The Marco Rubio Coloring Book, Marco Antonio Rubio’s journey, is a uniquely American story of family, perseverance, education, and public service. Born on May 28, 1971, in Miami, Florida, Rubio grew up in a family whose parents had immigrated from Cuba in search of opportunity and a brighter future. From an early age, Rubio learned the importance of hard work, responsibility, and education. These values would help guide him throughout his life and eventually lead him to some of the highest positions in the United States government.
Rubio attended the University of Florida, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science. He later graduated from the University of Miami School of Law, preparing for a career dedicated to leadership and public service. In the 1990s, Rubio served as a City Commissioner for West Miami. His commitment to his community and ability to connect with people helped launch a successful political career.
In 2000, Rubio was elected to represent Florida’s 111th District in the Florida House of Representatives. He quickly became known as a rising leader and eventually served as Speaker of the Florida House beginning in 2006. After leaving the Florida Legislature due to term limits, Rubio continued teaching and mentoring students while preparing for the next chapter of his public service career.
In 2010, Rubio was elected to the United States Senate. During his years in Washington, D.C., he became a nationally recognized voice on issues including foreign policy, economic opportunity, national security, and education. Rubio also ran for President of the United States during the 2016 Republican primary campaign, introducing his vision and ideas to voters across America.
In January 2025, Rubio was confirmed by the United States Senate as Secretary of State, becoming the first Latino American to hold the office. Later that year, he also served as Acting National Security Advisor, making history as one of the highest-ranking Hispanic Americans ever to serve in the federal government. Today, Rubio continues to play an important role in American leadership and international diplomacy.
